Topeka native Mitch McVicker is set to release his first national album "Without Looking Down" under the Spindust Records label in September.
McVicker, who signed a contract with Spindust this month, attended Friends University in Wichita, where he graduated with degrees in religion and philosophy. In 1999, McVicker released a single titled "My Deliverer," which won him a Dove Award, for song of the year.
McVicker has worked with artists
such as Rich Mullins, who was involved in a fatal car accident in 1997.
During the five years since Mullins' passing, McVicker went through a time
of healing while touring the country to support two independently released
albums. "Touring has always been a backbone of what I do," he said. "I
love to play music, and I love to travel the country. It is a privilege
to have the opportunity to share my music and my heart with so many people
across the country."
