Music Review Aaron Patton

Song: There You Are

There You Are is a great intro to the talents of Aaron.  There is an intimate performance on this song with both acoustic and electric guitar.  It feels like he is playing it in a coffee house just for a few friends; a very Jesus like way of spreading the gospel.   The music style of not over produced, is a very effective way of spreading the gospel.

The Lyrics:

You're never where I look, but You always seem to find me
You dance across fields of wheat
And breathe the ocean breeze
You're elusive and yet somehow You're everywhere
It's just sometimes I can't see the forest for the trees

Song:  Timothy

Vocally delivered similar to Mitch McVicker's style  in Take Hold Of Me  of speaking the lyrics .  Aaron's technique on this song is effective.
The ballad comes together  accompanied  with a good musical track.   Another think  I like about this artists  is that he connects his music to scripture; keeping it all real and authentic.

The Lyrics:

Then my mind is drawn to Timothy
As he gets a letter from Paul
And Paul says to him, "Now, listen Tim,
I know you're young and all
But here's the deal, you know what's real,
So it's up to you to show
How to live, talk, think and walk, and most of all to love."

Song:  Blessed Assurance

Funky and smile maker of the lyrics by Fanny Crosby's Blessed Assurance, mixed  to a fast paced Jerry Lee Lewis styled piano  song.
It may have been created on a whim, but it is truly  a wonderful  piano and vocals mix by Aaron.

Song: I Still Like Dinosaurs

Soulful, delightful, playful and entertaining.  God wants His children to smile.  This song does just that to listeners.  I like his harmonica track included with the acoustic guitar.

The Lyrics:

But I, I still like dinosaurs
And I think that that is all right
Cuz I'd rather be a child
Than grow up and give up my sight
And I like the book of Job
Chapter 40 verse 15
Cuz it's always made me dream
Of my favorite things that I've never seen

Song: A Diversion

Fingers dancing on his guitar, are shared in this short  musical arrangement.  I image down the road it will be lengthened and lyrics added.
It is good to share the moments, both big and small.  Not saying this is small, I am saying it is something worth sharing.

Song:  Dear Friend

Seems like a very intimate song written for one.  Somehow though, I feel this song will evolve.  The Artist Mitch Mcvicker, often has a new delivery almost every year of songs already recorded.  I think Aaron may follow in that path on some of his  own ballads.  Aaron is a joy to listen to.  There are definite talents to be discovered in this artist by others.

The Lyrics:

Grab onto Him, let go of the things of earth
That you want to hold onto
Reach out to Him, He’ll give you a new birth
And a light that will guide you
Out of this mess
That you got yourself into
And into holiness

Song:  My Love At First Sigh(Avery's Song)

Heartfelt ballad to one of God's child that lived for only a few breath's on earth.   Yet the  artist's music reflects a faith to his beloved Lord.
Great and talented musical arrangement.

The Lyrics:

You are my good and perfect gift
Sent from our Father above
I don't know how much time we have
But I know it could never be enough

Song:  Twenty 'Till Six

Exemplary piano arrangement awaits the listener.  It is simply amazing with a golden blend of lyrics and music.    It may be more difficult to write songs for guitar souls on the piano, but this song is a rich reflection of the awards that are given with perseverance.   This is my song of the album for this artist.  I'll never get tired of hearing it.

The Lyrics:

So as the Sun rises up to give light to my feet
Lord, give me the wisdom it takes to be meek
And show me who I am to be

And let the morning bring with it a word of Your love,
Awaken my soul as I lift Your name up
And hear my cry, Lord, hear my cry

Song:  I found You

Love song, delivered with a nice unpretentious  acoustic music blended with a friends vocals.

The Lyrics:

Well, Abraham, he loved his boy
But he knew to Whom he belonged
And I think of him when I think of you
And sometimes, it makes me cry

Song:  A Rainy Day In Kansas  (hidden track)

Last musical contribution to this project is a hidden track on the song I found You.    Interesting share Aaron.

Note from the Artist of this song: This song got its title because I was sitting in my room at my home in Wichita, KS, and I had nothing to do and it was raining.  It's an instrumental piece that utilizes five guitar parts and three vocal parts (yes, that's me - I can sing that high!).  I had considered doing a lot of things to it, but it just seemed finished the way it was, so I decided to leave it alone.

Thank you Aaron for following your heart on sharing the music inside.    While I am sure your very excited on this collection, I am also sure like many artists, the well is still full of more  music to come.  Continue writing, continue following the music  that is playing in your soul.  Continue listening and sharing Him with those you meet.  I am very excited to of found your project and now to have it to enjoy.
